WSA Re-brand
It’s a campaign to re-brand and re-launch Wigan School for the Arts as a complete autonomous campus.
At the moment the School for the Arts building has no life or soul. The building needs to look like an Arts School; it needs inspiring art pieces shown all over the building inside and outside of what’s created by students.
Students need to be given the chance to shine every individual pupil in the Art School is the life and soul of the campus.
What was created?

The Art School
The public face of the A.S. has no warmth and is very bland, but has lots of fantastic facilities. The building could do with lots of colour to make it an Art School. The building is next to the bigger building at parsons walk, it blends in with its surrounding buildings but needs to break free.

One of its good points is that it’s only less than 200 yards from town centre and the bus station.
The Personality
The Art School has no public personality its just one big blank canvas. The only thing that gives it any life are the Students.
Creative Solutions for WSA
From the research collected a series of boards were produced to show intended direction. On theses boards where a range of images that show the inspiration process within this project that resulted in ideas for creating a whole new image for the Art School.
From the development of the idea was born The Soul & Heart of Creation a theme with the heart running through the whole design process. The reason the heart is the main topic within this theme is because Art is the heart of every culture.
The Soul & Heart of Creation theme will be applied to the Logo, Prospectus and Advertisements. Images from around the college including the facilities available and the students at there best are to play a major role in the graphic appearance.
The design process shows how the inspiration research has been turned into design ideas, which have been developed further into 3-dimentional objects and other graphical designs.
After the developments, the design process was then taken to the digital design process were images from each available course within the Art School were selected from the design ideas. The selected images were separated into their course category and created into one image that showed what is involved in that particular course.
Once digitalised, the selected images were applied to the prospectus and advertisements.
The solution
The solution started with making the building look more colourful, funky, vibrant and cool.
The building needed to stand as an Art School and not some boring bland block of bricks.
An Art School needs to make a statement about art & creativity. The design solution points to the soul and heart of student’s creation, which are their ideas.
